It looks like Looney Tunes inside the Beltway.

Marvin the Martian, with his oversized brush-crested war helmet, looks perplexed.  He occupies the Oval Bridge and he has all of these cool weapons at his finger tips, but he can’t figure out how to bring them to bear on all those pesky subjects peering in the windows.

And, he needs to do something fast.  His legions are crumbling under pressure from these pesky earthlings.

For instance there’s Taz, his Vice Tasmanian Devil.  Taz has been kept underground.  His snarling countenance doesn’t play well in public.  And he loves to start fights.  But people are sniffing around Taz’s lair with embarrassing questions about the last war Taz started.

And now Taz has gone all delinquent.  He has been pretty independent about that little old shootout down Texas way.  His behavior has aroused the suspicions of the subjects - and Marv's too, for that matter.

Taz may be hauled out into the daylight, and that scares the daylights out of Marv!  Marv loves being the War Martian, but he knows he owes it all to his Taz.  And Taz is increasingly dissing Marv, his boss, as well as the rest of the world!

And then there’s Elmer Fudd, Marv’s brain.  Elmer has been sorely distracted of late as he labors to cover his assets over questionable shenanigans.  This has threatened to expose Marv's assets to the light of day.  If five years worth of this Martian Secret Regime's shenanigans are uncovered, Marv can kiss his assets goodbye.

Then of course there’s Senate Majority Leader Road Runner and former Speaker of the House Wiley Coyote, Marv’s crucial allies who are occupied with their own accounting.  They are preoccupied with their own troublesome moments, and the pack mules in the Congress are getting unruly and kicking over the traces.  It's getting harder and harder to find someone to carry the Martian Regime's water.

Not much has been seen of Road Runner lately.  He is keeping a pretty low profile and has not been seen bleep bleeping in anyone's face for quite some time - in fact almost since he violated Congressional protocol and campaigned against Tom Daschle in his own state.  He is probably lying low and hoping that his insider trading will speed on down the road without him.

And Wiley Coyote has had to slink away from his advantageous post in the House.  It seems they're agunnin' for him back in Texas where he came from.  He has been conniving to get back to his position in the house, but the challenge down Texas way is calling his hand.   Seems like there's a lot of gunnin' goin' on in Texas.

And things ain't agoin' at all well with Marv's hobby war, neither.  No wonder poor Marv, a totally out of touch War Martian, is perplexed.  And speaking of Texas - there he goes again!

Marv has spent the better part of the last five years back when things were going his way clearing brush in Texas.  Now the brush is just aflyin' as he gets away from it all with a vengence.

But he has left strict instructions, after hearing about the shootout down south, that Taz is not to set foot on the spread at Crawford!  Do you suppose he has heard about Taz's 'short list'?
