I have noticed that there is a lack of people willing to join this site. Just a few now, and narrower is the conversation now. Perhaps the people are loosing interest or maybe have found other sites to communicate with.

One thing I have noticed is that the conversation here has become more of a complaint forum, rather than a debate forum. It has also become a forum of "repeat the propaganda" rather than ones own thoughts. We attack the messager more than we debate the message.

I would imagine that that is why more people don't join up on this site. Perhaps the lack if intelligent conversation is why. I would like to see all of that change.

The answer is simple, the way that just a few of you all think they are better than the rest of us or anyone who tries to write on this site. This is suppose to be a fun site, not a class room but it is hard to make some of you understand this and they don't write on this site. Lighten up you conservatives and more people will write.

ive been told that the reason new people dont stay here is because of the content the major posters put up. not the nature of it, but how well its written. even my bulls*** story drives people who arent writers of my degree intimidates people to the point of them saying "i dont think im smart enough to post here..." also the foundation of the website when it started was politics, and thus it grew into a political website which drove away people my age (18-25) due to the fact of them being like me and not caring enough about politics to grace this website with their views.

i dont consider them cowards, i just think that we could all be a little more inviting and communicate on a level that anyone will feel comfortable joining in on. so, crum, your statement "The answer is simple, the way that just a few of you all think they are better than the rest of us or anyone who tries to write on this site." is only partially correct, people on this site dont think they are better than everyone else, they inadvertently are better than the people who come here to see what were all about. i dont try to be better than anyone else on the site, i just happen to write a LOT in a creative manner. i dont expect everyone to come here to be a genius, just that they have something on their minds and want to say it.

its too bad that everyone here currently is here for political discussion

writing music? i do that anyway, the key is to move past politics because like it or not, in the end they will always get their way. simplicity reigns supreme no matter what the case is, just look at iraq. how many dead u.s. troops with all our technology and all our strategies, lives lost to sand niggers with primitive weapons and explosives. even a simple telephone, no matter what you do with communication - phones in any form will always be the basis of fast communication. so f*** your politics, its all existential bulls*** that excedes what is neccesary for life. i feel my position as being non-political is misunderstood more often than it is comprehended.

i realize most people dont get over stuff as fast as i do, but that is part of my philosophy. to move forward, you have to forget the past. even if it repeats its self, its possible to change it over time. i find it somewhat humorous that someone like myself (who never forgets anything i may or may not want to remember) talking about forgetting the past. ways change, and with them, people change.

theres a vast difference in admitting defeat and ignoring something you dont care about. id really rather not have an eternal stick up my ass like half the people here. youre like a bunch of old ladies, you cant quit f***ing gossiping and bitching about s*** that doesnt matter, and then you want new members? what in the holy blue f*** have you done to deserve them? and what are you doing to keep them here? young adults in my age group dont give a s*** about your "well when i was kid in nam!" stories - nam is over, its gone, we dont care about it. and soon, iraq will be the same for most of us. yes its true weve been conditioned to respect authority but that doesnt mean we have to follow the ways weve been raised. yes yes i may seem ignorant to all things, but in reality, what am i going to do to change it? play by the rules? thats for saps and people who have little mindset on what they really want out of life. f*** the rules, without innovation a business will slowly ebb out of existance, governments only innovation is war and pissing its people off. i must say the tactic is getting old as the generations that follow the founders become smarter and more aware. im treating government like big oil companies, the less i spend on them the less they have control over me.

so... is it ignorance you still see, or logic and strategy? think what you want but im living in the most convenient way possible for myself. you know what? yeah, that is selfish, but why do you care? because i do what im asked when im told and i help people when they ask for it, do i not have the honest reward of being somewhat selfish? im not sure who is more defeated tom, you or me. are you currently waging a war against america? didnt think so, which is basically whats to be expected from a hypocrite. pushing aside the obvious is what i do best, because its already there and i already know about it, i want to get to the heart of the matter.

one last thing; i am not an american, and i wish i had never been born here.

Zanubiyah I agree with you and the responses to your article only reinforce what you were trying to point out. What is sad is that those responsible don't even realize it.

Allow me to express my medical opinion about the health of this forum.

Many times over the last year the postings and comments here have slowed down, and many times the incipient death of Voice of Arizona has been proclaimed. It never happened. It has also been a perennial complaint that the quality and diversity of postings on this site has suffered, only to be followed by periodic resurgence in both. So don't cry for Voice of Arizona just yet. I will wager that this forum will be the web's Fidel Castro in terms of longevity.

Why has it been quiet lately? I suppose that in no small part it is because that some of our most notable conservative voices have dropped off the radar, and there aren't the usual firebrand debates you've grown accustomed to seeing between bitter rivals with their feet dug in (see what happens when you call for more civil dialogue!). Members like tonyd and Ohio Nut Case have headed for the hills, or at least are on extended hiatus. AZRW is not nearly as active as he used to be. AA, relative to his usual prodigious output, is on extended sabbatical while devoting most of his time to the radio show. Perhaps we will hear fewer conservative voices here as their numbers drop off, as reflected by the polls. It is becoming increasingly difficult for true believers and the formerly mesmerized to "carry water" for the Bush Administration. I won't complain about this endangered species.

I have been posting less too, due to a temporarily increased work load, and my ongoing effort to bring a panel-debate show aka Bill Maher Realtime to the weekend lineup at KPHX (God knows it needs some more political content weekend programming, with the loss of shows like Voice of Arizona). If the show comes to fruition this Summer, I will be relying on Voice of Arizona more than ever to inspire topics of discussion, and perhaps to draw panel members with a mix of opinions. There will certainly be much free promotion for the Voice of Arizona website on our show, because I recognize a good thing when i see it.
