President Bush addressed an audience at 3M Company, where He called for expanding the H-1B visa program — which allows a specified number of foreign scientists and high-tech specialists to take jobs at wages that are very favorable to U.S. Corporations (but not to American workers).
He delivered this encouraging, if not exactly bright, message:
"I think it's a mistake not to encourage more really bright folks who can fill the jobs that are having trouble being filled here in America, to limit their number. So I call upon Congress to be realistic and reasonable and raise that cap".
“… jobs are having trouble being filled…”? “… to limit their number…” ? Huh??
The Bus***es have been admonishing Americans to retrain, retrain, retrain, as if that will create jobs.
Meanwhile, Bush's cronies in Corporate America are shipping not only jobs, but whole industries offshore rather than invest in training the American worker. I guess there are no really bright American folks who can fill the jobs that are having trouble being filled in America.
We are long overdue for H-1CEO work visas to encourage more really bright folks who can fill those top management jobs "that are having trouble being filled here in America", and who can articulate a coherent sentence.
Arghhhhhh!! The disdain of this crowd for the Average American, exemplified by the likes of Elaine Chao, the Secretary of Labor, knows no bounds. RE: Retraining of the American Worker
How did we get here? For a little background on that, reference Jackass Economics .
