The much anticipated "America Idol Gives Back" special aired last night with much success, or not. When Idol does these fundraisers it is for the people who don't have much, lost everything in a disaster, or are dying from a incurable disease. People should donate to rebuild New Orleans, cure cancer, but should they give millions of dollars for mosquito nets? I know that in Africa malaria is a horrible disease but why should we care? It's a curable disease and we should spend the money for the vaccine not cotton nets. That might sound cold and irrational but its the truth and Great Britain donating 20 million dollars for nets? Now thats irrational. 20 million dollars could supply the antidote for so many Africans or provide better living conditions, but no they it spend on nets. If it was me in Africa I would want a plentiful amount of vaccine ready for myself and my children so if we did get the disease we could be cured. Of course the world does not want to do that because they want to buy nets.

| Personally I would want both. I hate mosquito bites, especially when you get bit on the foot or between your toes...ouch. They sould be protected by the nets and vaccinations. Maybe this country can look to their diamond resources and talk care of their own. Instead of the same old story where the corrupt reap the benefit of wealth while the rest of the population starve and suffer, lets force this group fend for themselves. We have enough problems here at home. The people should hijack their corrupt government and put the looters in a room full of those pesky mesquitos. |

| Just what i wrote a couple weeks ago.We have people dying and starving right here in the U.S.,but when ever a bunch of celebrities get together its to do something for Africa.If you want to do something for Africa send them a billion f***in condoms!!! they keep having babies and spreading aids.There shouldnt be anymore baby production in that country period.How stupid can you be to keep having kids and watching them die from all the crap going on there.I dont know why the U.S keeps adopting these countries living in the 6th century and keep spending money in the wrong directions.Its uncalled for....
