I AM A SOLDIER

I am an American soldier sent to fight the evil foe
I see shadows of blackness everywhere I go
Fever pitch fear and everything lightning fast
Knowing that any move I make could very well be my last
I struggle to find reason and logic in this mission
But the people back home are they really listening?
My senses are numbed in this faraway land
Away from family and friends will I see them again?
I have no beef with these people but can they see the light?
That all we want to do is make things equal and right
Back home I hear about the fussin and fightin
Things bad about America in their talkin and writin
Sticks in my craw that people have the gall
To question our soldiers for trying to stand tall
Wish they were here and could take my place
They'd walk away from here with egg on their face
If I get to come home through God's amazing Grace
You activists and protestors better stay outta my face
