To begin with I believe that things have changed very much in the last hundred years. While things may have improved and we are more comfortable and things are convenient and lavish we have paid the price in loss of ethics and more greed and corruption. I'm not going to leave myself open because of my stand on gays because that is a human issue and nothing to do with hypocrisy except for the religious aspect to some.
I remember growing up the work ethic was real strong. If you missed work repeatedly you were the scum of the earth. People didn't want to retire at 40. They had that pride of continuing to go on and on and were satisfied with being a part of the workplace. Nowadays people call in sick at work and then swear up asnd down they are doing a good job. People run roughshod over people and then call it "That's business".
I am not saying I am not hypocritical about things. If I am they are inadvertent and I do not practice it knowingly or without guilt as many do. I keep my hypocrisy at a manageable dose and then they are layered in tiny increments not infringing on people's rights deliberately.
The going thing used to be Thank you. Now it is "There you go" or "No problem". With the advent of E-mail, things are more hectic and things are far less personable. You are now a number behind a screen.
Parents used to expect their teachers to teach and provide order but with support and respect. Now they complain about the teachers but no show of support. Then they wonder why teachers leave in droves. Hypocrites!
One of the things I have noticed also is people in the workplace get promotions for who they are and not what they are so as to avoid lawsuits. Hypocrites! They complain about perceived injustices towards them as if they are the only ones being affected..
That's only a few of the million examples of hypocrisy nowadays. I need to go to the liquor store and get some spirits so I can confess at church this Sunday so I can start next Monday and do the same things all over again
