After today's show I have to ask a question. How the hell do you people sleep at night?

Today's show moved, for the most part, down a straight line. The topic was cost of living. We never really got beyond oil, but as a product we all use in it's refined state, that really wasn't a problem.

But many of the callers took what I would describe as side roads once in a while. Not really a problem except of where they went. It seems to me, and I could be wrong but I was there and this is what I heard, that most callers shared a singular opinion of the Bush administration. And yes I know it is broadcast on 1480 KPHX, a liberal Air America, Nova M affiliate station.

Now I have some fun from time to time firing off topics to get debate started but I have always thought of most liberals as, if nothing else, capable of seeing things that are there and and seeing things that are not there and being able to tell the difference. I expect they will have a different opinion while still keeping one foot in the realm of reality. But today we were bombarded by caller after caller wanting to essentially say that all of the bad in the world can be laid at the feet of one George W. Bush.

From Global Warming to terrorism, from high gas prices to the current housing crisis, from CAFE standards to the generalized conservative movement, everything under the sun can be traced back to George W. Bush. I can only wonder what would have been the answer had I proposed the backward rotation of the moon around the Earth as a serious topic. Undoubtedly with the fanatical group of callers we had today, save a very few, the answer would have been unanimous, "It is George W. Bush's fault."

Today he was accused of causing and accelerating Global Warming, going into Iraq for the sole purpose of making himself and his "crime family" richer, of causing, single handedly mind you or with the help of the Vice President, the rise in oil prices world wide, again for the sole purpose of enriching himself and his family's friends, of spying on the American people with the only real objective being to catch those who oppose him in some compromising position (Spitzer was named specifically) in order to destroy those who would somehow "out" some secret activity. Then to top the whole thing off, The New York Times was hailed as the arbiter of Constitutional Protection when they released the information that the United States had a program (a secret program) that tracked the deposits and transfers of moneys being routed either to or through accounts known or thought to be associated with terrorist activity.

While I have heard all of these accusations before (many are outlines in MIC's newest article on the marquee), until today I had never heard them enumerated verbally in such a short two hour time span. It was amazing.

On top of all this George W. Bush was tied to among other things the government's bailout of Bear Stearns (as though that was a bad idea done in a vacuum) which may well have served to prop up our financial markets long enough for some of the panic to subside as though there was another avenue that could have been taken. The other avenue was to let it all go south. In that there is no choice. I even got one caller to agree with me when I said that Hugo Chavez must have been right in saying he could still smell the sulfur at the podium after Bush had spoken a day earlier, (at the UN) because Bush is in fact, Satan.

So I have to ask, with all of George W. Bush's power and all of the shady, sometime maniacal activity going on, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, how can any of you who believe this ever get a good night's sleep? No wonder you have lost your sense of humor, so easily become unnecessarily offended, read into anyone's intentions some dubious intent and generally act like paranoid schizophrenics.

It must suck to be you. (To put in the vernacular of the day)

But what would I know; I'm just an Average American.
