The sale of KXXT, with its subsequent "conversion", the renewal of the of the Patriot Act, providing government access to your library records, and the NSA warrantless domestic eavesdropping program, with its unchecked ability to indiscriminately monitor al AWJeezCleaned l of your telephone conversations and emails, seemed to converge last week in a dialogue between Bill O'Reilly and a caller.

From the March 2 broadcast of The Radio Factor with Bill O'Reilly:

O'REILLY: Orlando, Florida, Mike, go.
CALLER: Hey Bill, I appreciate you taking my call.
O'REILLY: Sure.
CALLER: I like to listen to you during the day, I think Keith Olbermann's show --
O'REILLY: There ya go, Mike is -- he's a gone guy. You know, we have his -- we have your phone numbers, by the way. So, if you're listening, Mike, we have your phone number, and we're going to turn it over to Fox security, and you'll be getting a little visit.
HILL: Maybe Mike is from the mothership.
O'REILLY: No, Maybe Mike is going to get into big trouble, because we're not going to play around. When you call us, ladies and gentleman, just so you know, we do have your phone number, and if you say anything untoward, obscene, or anything like that, Fox security then will contact your local authorities, and you will be held accountable. Fair?
HILL: That's fair.
O'REILLY: So, just -- all you guys who do this kind of a thing, you know, I know some shock jocks. Whatever. You will be held accountable. Believe it.
We'll be right back.

In recent weeks, MSNBC's Keith Olbermann. has repeatedly awarded O'Reilly the "Worst Person in the World" designation during his show, Countdown with Keith Olbermann.

O'Reilly, Hannity and the rest of the conservative pundits with their talking points, get away with saying the most bizzare and untruthful rantings. Are they above the law because they follow the painful and idiotic half-truths of the current administration? Of course they think so. O'Reilly is so full of himself it hurts the poor baby to hear criticism. Last night Olberman did make a reference to O'Reilly's phone troubles (the recorded phone sex with him using a vibrator on himself with an associate on the other end), settled quickly of course yet no punishment from the almighty Fox Channel. Swept under the rug, so of course he thinks he can get away with anything. Ah, the rich and powerful with an outlet to spew their self-righteous crap, yet the right continue to bash those who speak out on the left. The right can do no wrong. Even Tonyd condemned the left for speaking out on Air America Radio shameful, shameful.

What does the sale of the local Air America affiliate have to do with it. The station was sold as part of a deal. Why must you constantly see conspiracy in everything June, Just Joan, or whatever your name is. I looked at some of Just Joans responces to past articles and see very real simularities in writing style between that screen name and June's. Just a thought. Good thing Just Joan no longer comes here...or does she.

you have uncovered the arrogance of stark raving lunacy in a few short sentences. These people are scary.

Is this guy the NeoCoNazi propaganda minister, their George Goebbles? (Goebbles, Joseph (1897-1945), Master propagandist of the Nazi regime and dictator of its cultural life for twelve years,) [link:www.mega.nu]

The Third Reich was replete with irrational raving ideologues, ranting and panting and hawking their lethal snake oil. It was hallmark to see Hitler up there at rallies ranting and raving hysterically, and the also rans like Goebbles trying to warm the crowd up beforehand. This cheering section looks all too familiar!

Oh June, I'd be afraid of what the government is up to, except that since George UU Bush took over they haven't been able to do a damn thing right. If Bill O'Reilly and the Loofah Brigade are gonna come out with the National Police then its more likely they will arrest, or shoot my neighbors, and not me.

And, hold on folks- Christy is working to get Air America back on in Phx... but dang, I wish he'd go fast.

Thank you guys. Your comments struck several chords. First, Air America - I'm with Phaedrus - can't happen soon enough! And, yeah, the gang that couldn't shoot straight is being reinstated by the Patriot Act. Sound advice, Akman, but I have a feeling BAA has heard it all before. Speaking of having heard it before, remember Bush saying, "Ya gotta repeat it over and over and over, you know - catapult the propaganda?" How about:

"The most brilliant propagandist technique will yield no success unless one fundamental principle is borne in mind constantly - it must confine itself to a few points and repeat them over and over." Joseph Goebbels

And thank you AZ Moderate for words that we've all heard before and are worth repeating daily. Let me quote from the Book of Prophecy, 11.08.02:

Way back in the 1950's when I first tasted politics and journalism, Republicans briefly controlled the White House and Congress. With the exception of Joseph McCarthy and his vicious ilk, they were a reasonable lot, presided over by that giant war hero, Dwight Eisenhower, who was conservative by temperament and moderate in the use of power.

That brand of Republican is gone. And for the first time in the memory of anyone alive, the entire federal government — the Congress, the Executive, the Judiciary — is united behind a right-wing agenda for which George W. Bush believes he now has a mandate.

That mandate includes the power of the state to force pregnant women to give up control over their own lives.

It includes using the taxing power to transfer wealth from working people to the rich.

It includes giving corporations a free hand to eviscerate the environment and control the regulatory agencies meant to hold them accountable.

And it includes secrecy on a scale you cannot imagine. Above all, it means judges with a political agenda appointed for life. If you liked the Supreme Court that put George W. Bush in the White House, you will swoon over what's coming.

And if you like God in government, get ready for the Rapture. These folks don't even mind you referring to the GOP as the party of God. Why else would the new House Majority Leader say that the Almighty is using him to promote 'a Biblical worldview' in American politics?

So it is a heady time in Washington — a heady time for piety, profits, and military power, all joined at the hip by ideology and money.

Don't forget the money. It came pouring into this election, to both parties, from corporate America and others who expect the payback. Republicans outraised Democrats by $184 million dollars. And came up with the big prize — monopoly control of the American government, and the power of the state to turn their ideology into the law of the land. Quite a bargain at any price.

Who fears the truth: only the guilty.
Who attacks someone character: one who fears the other people.
Who uses the talking points for a reference: narrow-minded, stupid, and lazy people who is afraid to know the truth.
And the last point: Who vote only by party and never researches anyone else to see if maybe they are the better person. Lazy person who doesn't care about whether or not the party in power destroy my country.

Interesting homilies, William, but I think two Republican victories in the recent presidential elections have given me a different slant on your last point.

It's a blend of "all politics are local" and the marketing of a candidate.

The vital issues are the ones that touch the voter at home, at work, at play. Candidates for high national office have never been able to effectively address all those issues in a realistic manner so they've relied on trusted local spokespersons as surrogates. For a surrogate to be effective, the more credible and the higher the position on the authority food chain, the better - like newspapers, union leaders, members of the clergy, community leaders, etc.

Superimpose on that, the public addiction to TV and radio. That gives an inherent "power" to the media to mold or fabricate a political personality, whether it seeks to do so or not. And defining a pleasing political personality, or at least, one with fewer negative traits than an opponent, becomes the objective - remember, issues are dealt with by the surrogates at the local level.

In national elections, members of special interest groups, the surrogates' followers, are conditioned to pull the party lever and recent experience shows that carries over to the mid-term elections as well.

To counter this "bloc-voting" with an issues-oriented campaign may be fatal. The Republicans have shown us it's all about winning rather than about the issues - just look at Tom DeLay's victory in the Texas primary.

I agree with you that laziness is the root of the problem but that's a major factor in the creation of a follower. I'd suggest the issue isn't one of eradicating laziness, it's about harnessing the followers.

Sometimes they are so incredibly redickerous, it is hard to turn them off. I suppose I can just get updates on what doggie doo comes out of their mouths from Useguys `cause I already have shut them down in my own personal world. I turned them off! I may only turn them on again as a lesson to my kids "whats wrong with the world" "How and who not to be" kind of lessons.
