So, I am a (relatively) new member here. I have made one post before, but even I'll admit it was a bit random. Nonetheless, I've been reading the site often, and enjoy viewing what is happening. Perhaps most distrubing to me is the whole William thing. Part of me would like to sidestep the whole issue (the smarter part), and part of me would like to get to the bottom of the problem (the curious, dumb part). For now, I'll just sidestep it.
I am interested in several current issues, but the core of my personal expertise centers around energy. I may write a few articles along those lines, dealing with such hot topics as ethanol, hydrogen, etc...
I just wanted to say hello, and introduce a new topic [I'd be interested to see comments on my article relating to energy issues ;) ]

First of all - welcome to VoA! Its always fun to see new faces. I myself am fairly new to actually becoming active with posts and comments myself so I know how it is. I can already tell you that most of the comments you get are going to be related to gas and that will probably lead into a debate over the war in Iraq (thats what happens to every article - it seems).
Anywho, I'm glad you're an expert on the issue of energy, because over the past few weeks I've been asking myself (and not pursuing the question): "Why don't we use pure ethanol?"
Am I wrong in thinking that we can truly run vehicles off of a fuel made mostly from corn? I know we have a good supply of it (being from the Midwest myself).
Also, what about used cooking oil for diesels? Why don't we just recycle that other than the fact that it wears the engines down faster... engines that weren't built with cooking oil fuel in mind.
What is your take on alternative fuels?
And last but not least.. am I completely wrong and a moron for thinking such crazy things?
