Guard Our People?

Just a small point of confusion: Is the Revolutionary Guard in fact the Republican Guard by another name?

Yeah yeah – Saddam Hussein had his Republican Guard, but the Republicans under the Cheney-Bush regime dismantled that. It was replaced by Backwater. I mean Blackwater.

It seems that this bunch of Iranian Hitlerian brown shirts answers to either name – reporter’s choice.

Alright, I'm gonna ask.

What do you think of Obama's approach to the situation in Iran right now? After all, this is one of his first 3am moments. Do you think he's playing it the right way, or would you go into instant denouncement mode like McCain?

Speaking of McCain, and remembering the millions of Iranians protesting their government in the streets, what do you think of McCain's Bomb Bomb Iran campaign song? Presidential or not? What would the Iranian situation be like with McCaininCharge?

Lets review.

The One gives a speech in Cairo of over 6000 words, quotes the Quaran, yet doesn't want to say something as simple as STOP THE TERRORISM.

The One takes credit, because of his wonderfuil Cairo speech, for the opening of dialogue within Iran, then when all hell breaks loose he hides under his desk.

He says we can't be seen as interfering with the process in Iran yet he makes it clear he wants to interfere with the policies of Israel.

He made a stronger statement when Tiller was murdered than he has EVER made about Iran.

At least real leaders like Sarkozy don't have to check the opinion polls before they condemn the actions of a brutal regime.

So I'm sure had this happened under Bush the news would be all about How Dare The President Go For Yogurt At A Time Of Crisis.

Maybe he'll have the stones to stop North Korea from test firing a missile next month. But I dont expect it from the appeaser party.

I didn't ask you for a retard's retrospective on global geopolitics. If I wanted the thoughtful analysis of a schoolgirl, I would have asked Willow.

I asked you how you would have played it. I asked you if the sight of Iranians protesting in the streets makes them slightly less nukable in your eyes. I asked you to imagine Iran today if McCain were President.

Any of those deeply held but lightly thought about beliefs of yours open to honest reflection, or are you just a stamp licker?

I never claimed, unlike you, to be an expert on Middle Eastern affairs.

However since you have appointed me shall we say a defense "Czar" (we know you would have no problem with a Republican President violating the law) I will share what I feel a leader should do.

First and formost he should condemn the process.

He should support those inside of Iran who are putting their asses on the line to stand up to the Mullas.

But what do we get from Dear Leader? Double secret probation?

Now I know the Messiah is busy with all huis photo op dates, trips to the burger shops and papas day yogurt runs but I recall GW being mocked by the very fools who follow him around drooling and amazed that he could kill a fly!

So what do I think McCain would do? Lead.

He already has condemned the crackdown. Maybe you mean he should condemn the Iranian government, like McCain advocates. That would that accomplish nothing for the protesters in the streets. They don't need a rallying cry from us. But it would give the theocrats a reason to blame outside influence and to justify an even more brutal crackdown, Tiananmen Square style. As it is, some of the police are saying they will not fire upon fellow citizens that are peacefully protesting. But give them a reason to think the US is inciting all the unrest -- like we have been known to do in the past -- and they probably won't be so restrained. Do you ever think before you say something? Never mind, stupid question. You're a Republican.

He has already supported their right to peacefully protest. If he says any more, it won't protect the protesters one iota, but it may put a bullet in their heads.

You're right about that. He'd lead us right into yet another war. And then those millions of young Iranians on the streets can be collateral damage when the bombs start falling in the name of freedom. But as AA would reason, they wouldn't have been there in the first place if they weren't guilty. On the other hand, if McCain were President, I doubt there would be any protest at all. Ahmadinejad would have won in an uncontestable landslide. All he would have had to do to secure his George Bush post 9-11 reverence would be to point out the belligerence of the Great Satan, whose President sings songs about bombing Iran.
