In Washington, the loyal opposition certainly opposes something - in fact, nearly everything about the Obama administration - but loyalty? Loyalty to what? Obstructionism?

President Obama was elected on the promise of change but the GOP has consistently closed ranks to trash his economic proposals at every turn - even in the face of unprecedented meltdown. It appears that President Obama is being hoisted on the petard of his promise of bipartisan solutions to the nation‘s problems.

By stonewalling, GOPhers hope to gain concessions from Congressional Democrats so they may claim victory. And, if they succeed in undermining the stimulus bill, their predictable hue and cry will tag President Obama with the failure.

Need I ask who are the beneficiaries of the GOPhers “business as usual”? Think about it - our AZ Republican delegation is playing Russian Roulette with OUR futures!

This borders on low black comedy in the case of financial executive compensation.

The GOPhers are against the proposed $500,000 cap for firms accepting bailout funds - which places them uneasily, but none-the-less squarely, on the side of those Wall Streeters, with their bonus billions, their corporate jets and their swanky boondoggles.

While Senator Kyl has blamed the "tone deaf" bankers for creating the excesses that legitimize the call for the cap, he reverses himself with, "Because of their excesses, very bad things begin to happen, like the United States government telling a company what it can pay its employees. That's not a good thing in America."

Hunh? It’s not - what about those deadbeat welfare recipients? Ronnie Reagan called it “workfare”!

Oh, I see - that’s different.  I'm sure Postie and his low-info colleagues will tell the rest of us how that works!
