I have been putting together a show for KPHX called Fantastic Forum (I know, corny name, but catchy). The format is a panel discussion-debate show like Realtime with Bill Maher, but for the radio. The intent is to add more political content to Phoenix's only liberal talk radio station, especially on the weekends where the line up has suffered from shows like Exopolitics (which has nothing to do with politics, let alone reality) and the loss of Voice of Arizona.
My partner in this endeavor is Zelph, former regular contributor to the Truth to Power Hour, Jeff Farias' weekend show. Last weekend we produced a "proof of concept" one hour demo show at the studio. We will use this demo tape to hopefully find sponsors, and with luck, launch the show for real some time this summer.
Our very own Average American was on the panel for the first show (or maybe as AA refers to Leonard Clark, your very own Average American). Stacy Holmstedt from AZCongressWatch.com was also one of our panelists. Bryan from Voice of Arizona participated as one of our "callers." Sean Ryan, the board operator at KPHX, stayed after hours on Father's Day to tape our show.
Here is the link to the show on my website if you are interested in listening:

| It was Bryan's idea to post the show here, to get feedback. We thought it would be a good addition to the KPHX lineup as well. However, I will try to have at least one conservative on the panel, maybe two -- not just to balance the debate, but to add fuel to the fire. Nothing more boring than listening to like-minded people bloviating and slapping each other on the back . . . like Fox News.

| we'll be listening!!! I see a seat for Tom Carter in that studio . . . occasionally! I like his extreme slant on the B.S. going down in American Politics now! If Randy Rhodes is a hard hitting 10 on a scale of (anti-fascist) ten . . . T.Carter will be a gotta tune in 20!

| Hell . . .I'd invite myself to be on the show, but I am not sure that I'd be of much service. I just spent a day organizing an article in my mind (while at work), which was going to make fun of the Freddy Thompson role in that bad ape horrible movie "CONGO" and then make hilarious comparisons to bad actor, ex-president(RIP) R. Regan and his role in the old George W. Bush movie "bedtime for Bonzo". And then I remembered that it wasn't even Fred Thompson in the movie "CONGO" . . . It was Joe Don Baker!!! And then I realized . . . WHATS THE DIFFERENCE!

| One of the most difficult aspects of putting together this show will be finding panelists. It's one thing to book a guest or two every once in a while on the Voice of Arizona Radio Show. It's another thing to find three guests for a panel, liberal and conservative, willing to debate each other for an hour, and to book a new set of three guests each and every week. With that in mind, we will be recruiting guests from many different places: columnists, bloggers, radio/TV hosts, activists, and the Voice of Arizona community. In other words, it's wide open. If you have ever watched the Bill Maher show Realtime and yelled at the TV because someone on the panel said something you disagreed with strongly, but no one followed up with the obvious response, well here is your chance. We wont be strongly caller driven. In fact, we will open the phone lines only during the last 15 minutes (at least as planned so far). But instead of just calling in for a quick 30 second input, the listeners can actually be on the panel of a subsequent show. Now that's listener participation. |

| Prommy, the difference is Joe Don Baker is a great actor, and not a politician. Freddy Thompspn is a bad actor, and a really phony politician. I'd love to hear Prom, and Anti Christ on a forum program, and maybe even the Poker dude. Just be ready with the 7 second delay to screen out the F-bombs.

| I think that AC and Pokerman can keep it clean for the kiddies. Not so sure about Prom though. He gets kind of exuberant you know. No matter, I'm pretty much the one in need of a seven second delay.

I'm just joking about being on a show (although I could end up calling in). Prefer to stay "beneath the radar". Most of what I needed to do here, I already did!!! Sounding the "Fascist are here" warning bell . . . with the others here! Now I come here to see what t*t bits of wisdom I can absorb from people much smarter than I . . . and to write things that make me laugh (and maybe make some others laugh) Tom . . . relax, I am not saying the battle is over . . . just can't do much more here

Great idea. The Forum thing works great. Pat McMahon has beat that horse for better than a decade in Phoenix, but if you could get one on NOVA M and have it stacked with liberals and fight the slant of the other corporate media then great.
