Democracy Sucks

Hello everyone. This is my first post here and was hoping for some lively debate on politics, government and our Constitution. I have a very deep love for America and served my country in uniform as did my father, grandfather and great grandfather. I have two sons presently serving our nation and a daughter that my enlist this year.

Now that the introduction is over I was hoping to pick a fight. As I read through all the posts here I noticed a common trend. That trend is a belief in American democracy. My goal with this post is to make people question democracy and understand America is NOT a democracy.

First, what is democracy. Democracy is, in a nut shell, two wolves and a sheep voting on whats for dinner. Democracy is tyranny by mob rule. No democracy has ever stood the test of time and when they fall, dictators reign. That is the history of man and if you don't learn from it you'll be doomed to repeat it.

Almost everyone here is against the war, as am I. But let's review how we went to war. We democratically elected congress and congress democratically authorized war powers to a democratically elected president. In 2004 we re-elected the same war hawks, plus some new ones. Thats democracy in action!!! If you don't like it, don't support democracy!!

America is a Constitutional Republic, not a democracy. What government body in our Republic can authorize war? Article 1, section 8 lists the 18 things Congress is allowed to do and one of them is declare war. Would we be in Iraq if the majority of congess had to do their job and declare war? I don't think so!!

All of America's problems today can be traced to the federal government oversteping it's constitutional limits and invoking "democracy" to pass laws like the Patriot Act, War powers, gun bans, drug laws, etc, etc, etc.............

I truely believe American's today are afraid of the freedom found in our very government restrictive Constitution, are you one of them?

You are right we are closer to living under a dictatorship than ever. Any time the leaders lead with lies, the people are done. Self interest and greed is our leaders moto.We need more indictments of these #@$45@##.

Hi Dave,
Thank you for serving our country in the military. My father and grandfather served, but my brother did not because he was too young for Vietnam (thank God). As to the state of our Republic, I believe it's a fine system. The problems we are encountering now happened because the leaders at the top are liars and cheaters. Yes, I agree with your references to a Republic rather than the so called "Democracy" the 14th amendment help to throw us in.

However, I would like to "wake people up to the greater reality." what most Americans don't realize is that the first 150 years of this country was a covert war for it's control. It began with progressive control of the "Media" and educational content and was fully consummated early in the 1900's. From that point on it has all been a masquerade and fraud perpetrated upon not only the US but the world.

There has rarely been anything resembling a real war in nearly 400 years. All the major events have been arranged frauds including the Russian Revolution, the French Revolution, the US Civil War, WWI, WWII, Vietnam, Iraq. They are staged events with known outcomes and known purposes.

Two conspiracies are proof positive of long term conspiratorial planning. One is communism which throughout the 1900s promised to bring greater happiness to people who where already basically happy. The second is the Jesuits who where thrown out of pretty much every country in Europe including Germany, Prussia, England, Italy, France and other countries including Japan, Mexico and Guatemala. The Jesuits where expelled for Murder, Attempted Murder, Spying, Agitating etc.. Banned by the Vatican in 1773 then forged an alliance with the money makers known as the modern "Illuminati" in 1776. Note the Jesuits where never expelled in the US or Canada. Yet, half of our early leaders despised them.

i come from a long line of war heros. wwII, nam, etc. i personally will not fight for this country. if they physically come to my home, tell me in person that i need to do this or i am going to be shot and killed (god forbid the american military recruitment efforts would spar with someone they wanted in the army) right here in my own home (apartment?) then i will do it. otherwise, because i was required to enlist, i wont lift a f***in finger to do this horrible countries bidding. mind you every nation on the planet is this way, children born into not just custody of their parents but also their government; people you dont know and have never seen or met before telling you that you must kill people in other places or you will be thrown in jail, rediculous, i never asked to be born in this country, and if there was a better place that i had the means of getting to i would be there. war is ugly, but government is even uglier. they say anarchy wont work that the nation will fall into chaos... i say we should give it a try.

I think Good Nite Dave's ideas on democracy are narrow and short sighted. He is going in the right direction but needs more depth. The majority of the problem in this country is apathy, we have arrived at the point where we simply look at government and say, "I'm only one person, I can't do anything, noI don't like it but so what" etc.

Most of our politicians are in a life time job, spend most of their time getting re-elected, move in favorable circles to "continued service" situations and really don't do much for the home folks unless an election year. Most of what is accomplished is not because it needs to be, but because the home town powers will respond better if they make an effort. If anyone is still of the openion that the votes are not bought and paid for by complicate actions they have missed to boat.

What we really need is a more British attitude, when they no longer have favor, vote them out! Bush would have been gone last year along with his crony group of incompetants.

You want by the people for the people, you better get involved and get going.

Ah Dave...
I reckon a lively debate you will have. In this day of negatism it is easy to find fault just about anything, and of course the Government is an easy target.
In all actuality I feel that the general idea (not actual definition)that most of us have about democracy is we get a chance to voice our opinion and that the majority rules. Although there is censorship, we have elected officials to voice our opinion and in most cases the majorities rules.
The only way to make a positive change is to Positively change our elected officials. Without term limits our officials turn into politicians. Politicians worry about getting re-elected and therefore give way to the large corporations who will line their pockets. That would include pharmaceutical companies, manufacturing and oil companies.
I could go on and on, but the fact is that we all want the comforts that we are provided in this country and we must find the positives, try to make the changes we can and accept what we can't.
Many people make horrific sacrifices everyday to make this country better and those are the ones I applaud.
I hope everyone can find a "10" today and everyday!

Thanks for the comments all. I did have a lot more to add, but feared being long winded would hinder the response.

MR Independent, I think we're closer to an oligarchy. The faces in politics never change, they just keep getting reassigned or re-elected and both parties have stacked the deck so much it's almost impossable for an outsider to break the ranks of the political inbreeds. Hell, if we don't get some new blood in politics soon we'll have to change the national anthem to dualing banjo's!!

Nori, thank you for the kindness. It was my pleasure to serve. You are right, the United States has a fine-the best-system for government IF it were followed. And is the problem really the cheats and liars? Or is it you and I?

Jailer, you get the GOLD STAR. You are 100% correct, It's all our fault! As a Goldwater styte Republican I haven't been able to stand the Republican Party since Bush 1.

If you look at history with a clear open mind theres no doubt the Republican Party has been the bigger bane to liberty. That said, I became a Libertarian quite some time ago. But it's next to impossable to convince my friends and family to change their voting habbits, You know the story, Kerry will take all your guns. He'll sell us out to the UN, ETC.

So I'm here pleading. Our Republic is dying and if "We the People" don't wake up soon it may take our kids fighting a revolution, if government run schools haven't brain washed them into believing random strip searchs are both legal and enjoyable.

Montanan, The majority is not suppose to rule. I don't care if 299,999,999 American's want me to give up my gun, I have a right to it and will not give it up! Term limits is only a legal device that does what we SHOULD BE DOING and unless the constitution is amended for it, it's just as illegal as corporate welfare, foreign aid and the Patriot Act.

I do like your positive attitude though, keep you head up and have a good day.
