Why all this fighting about the Creation/Evolution debate? AzModerate wrote a great article in which he eluded to the bible speaking "poetic terms" about science. Well I did a little research as I am desirous of doing from time to time and found the following quote from said bible:
"Get wisdom, get understanding; do not forget my words or swerve from them. Do not forsake wisdom, and she will protect you; love her and she will watch over you. Wisdom is supreme; therefore get wisdom. Though it may cost all you have, get understanding." Proverbs 4:5-7. And " Blessed is the man who finds wisdom, the man who gains understanding, for she is more profitable than silver and yields better returns than gold." Proverbs 3:13-14
So many more times in Proverbs god tells us to use the talents he has given us to seek out knowledge and understanding. Why is it that SCIENCE can not find a place for god when god has so obviously used it to create. God does not live in defiance of his rules. Of course all of the answers we seek can be found in science, that's the way it was "intelligently designed" by the creator.
For a scientist to deny that many of the answer lay not hidden by god but by our lack of knowledge is a legitimate way of looking at it. However, knowing that the rules of science are hard-fast and unchanging could be a scientific explanation of the divine exactness of the creators plan.
Did we come from apes? Did we start out as protozoa moving around in some primordial soup, I will admit to the possibility. Nowhere in the bible does it say that the 6 days were 24 hour periods of time as we think of them today. Until such time that we build a time machine capable of going back to the exact moment when life popped up on this planet, we will never know for sure.
But to use science to dissolve the importance of god, to try to eliminate a creator as even a possible piece of the puzzle is insanity. There are as many scientist who are practicing Christians who believe quite strongly that god used the principles of evolution as a tool for his ultimate creation, us. Who's to say definitively? It seems to me, and I am by no means a scientist, PHD, Theologian or Man of god or science, that for Darwinism to work, each species would develop based on survival of the strongest or best adapted. Wouldn't we have at some point, bred out the weaknesses in all creatures? We still have weakness. Like I said I am no expert, please educate me if you would.
One more thought before I go, if god does not exist, the question no longer lives in the how, when and where, but in the why? Why are we here. We have an incredible mind, only 10% of which we can comprehend. Why would life happen at all? In the universe the dominant force is open space, why is there life at all, we contribute nothing to the universe. We can not create planets, stars, gravity, energy or time. So "why" becomes the real question. One possible answer: TO WITNESS IT ALL. And for something to need it to be witnessed, something or someone must have had a hand in "intelligently designing" it to be seen.
