Impeachment is a Constitutional . . . what shall we say? A right? An important redress? Note that with a President it is the House of Representatives that brings the articles.... it begins with them.
People often say that our founders created all three branches of government equal...or they use that curious phrase, "co-equal" -- (how that is different than "equal," I dunno, but) . . .
I say, "Co-equal -- Schmo-equal!" The House of Representatives was meant to be the most important part of the federal government . . . one item? They can impeach the executive, the executive cannot remove them (legally -- military coups, such as we have fostered in other countries notwithstanding for now). . . another? The house was the only part of the new govt. directly elected by the people . . . (back then, the Pres., VP and Senate were not). By my math, that is only 1/2 of 1/3 of the branches "for the people. . . " or 17% -- "Power to the People?" Another time, more on that, perhaps. Another? You know from your understanding of the American Revolution that the winners sought to make sure that there would never be one-man rule in the United States (like in England) . . . be it a monarch or otherwise; hence, the “balances” to prevent it . . .
But this 1/2 of 1/3 of a government must do its job . . . it is their responsibility to impeach corrupt officials in the executive branch, be it the Attorney General or whoever . . . not something they only do if politically expedient, “at your leisure, Sire” . . . The Representatives should quit worrying about re-election . . . and worry more about where the country is going, and has been the last six years. They should bring articles of impeachment against all executive branch officials they have evidence against . . . and not give a damn if the Senate will convict or not. The county needs the truth (some Righties cannot handle the truth of course, or will not face it) . . or as much of it as we can learn. . . . and impeachment trials will bring more out.
It is their duty and sworn obligation to fight the corporate take over of our country as well. . . on behalf of the people . . . Maybe it is like you going up in a court case, civil suit let’s say, and you are suing Ford Motor Company for a defective product . . . without a tough, experienced and expensive law firm on your side, do you think you have much of a chance? The House needs to function as the People’s “Protective Law Firm” against the Exxons and Halliburtons of the world . . . wait, a bit off the subject, tending to rant, here . . . apologies . . .
Those who live long enough will see history books which will state that the Bush administration was the most corrupt in the nation's history . . . surpassing Harding (Teapot Dome) and McKinley (phony War of 1898) and Nixon (you know) combined . . . at least if WE, and others like us, especially those with a wider audience, help write that history . . .
So . . . write on.
