The long march to be a superpower Aug 2nd 2007 | BEIJING AND TIANJIN The People's Liberation Army is investing heavily to give China the military muscle to match its economic power. But can it begin to rival America?Read about it at China's military might *(See first comment for link) Far-ranging Aug 6th 2007 “THE Pentagon recently noted that China's expanding military capabilities were a “major factor” in altering military balances in East Asia. Since China's military weakness was displayed in 1995 during the Taiwan Strait crisis, it has been busily deploying hundreds of short-range missiles on the coast opposite Taiwan. … It is also believed to be developing DF-31As, which would reach any part of America, and submarine-carried (so more concealable) JL-2s.” *(See first comment for link)
Hate to say “I told you so”, but …”
And we’re financing this through our Goliath sized trade deficit, and by using the Chinese Communist Central Bank to lend us the money to squander in Bush’s hobby war in Iraq.

Unfortunately the VofA editor will not accept an underscore symbol, or anything following that symbol, in a URL character string. Makes no difference if the URL is embedded or explicit for copy and paste purposes (even between quotation marks). It insists on interpreting it as a URL and it distinctly dislikes that underscore symbol.
I will put the explicit URLs in a comment so that they may be copied and pasted in the Address box of your browser. My restriction to the old comment editor is in fact advantageous in this case because it will not (cannot) interpret the explicit character string as a URL. In this case primitive is good!
Sorry for the inconvenience.
