If you are concerned that you won't be able to comment, we have fixed one issue with the new login system where users weren't being bounced back to the hostname from which they came if they were on internet explorer 7, or if their browsers weren't corectly reporting the refering page. So users that were affected by this issue should no longer have a problem logging in to comment on articles.
Thanks for your patience and support, we are working hard to make your user experience better.

| To Bryan @ bbb: I'm relieved to report that the link you sent me has resolved all the Login problems I've reported. The old address still triggers the Certificate Error. I don't understand the above explanation completely but, for the record, I am using Internet Explorer 7.0.5. Now that my connection/login issues are cleared up, I'd like to report some formatting glitches. 1. When typing a comment, the Delete key operates in a spastic fashion - often it will only delete the first letter in front of the curser, sometimes, it won't even do that; often, it will not delete a highlighted passage. Thus, Backspace seems to be the only reliable option for erasing/editing. 2. In both Comments and Article preparation, links inserted in the text sometimes cause problems. Sometimes, because the draft copy always looks perfect, but once posted (or Updated, if in the case of an Article), the links may or may not remain in place. When they don't stay put, the links appear at the bottom of the post and all the text is underlined between the link's original location and their new location at the bottom. See my first post at link:[www.voiceofarizona.com] In the draft, the link was placed at the - in the copy that posted. I'm curious to see if the above link will stay put when I post this. 3. Another formatting crapshoot is the use of Bold font (the B in B I U) in Article preparation. When I highlight a passage, using the B, all the text following the highlighted portion is highlighted in the copy once the draft is Updated. I always prepare draft articles in MS Works, then copy and paste into the VoA Article space which may be a confounding factor, dunno. If you recall, you deleted a genuine eyesore at my request that had both the floating link and the highlighting problem. Maaaan! I just highlighted a passage and used the Delete key to erase it. I couldn't do that earlier when I was typing item #1 above. Like I said, it's a crapshoot! Though I cannot begin to comprehend the daunting tasks confronting you folks in chasing down the your software bugs, I do want to compliment and thank you for your assistance in cleaning up the messes I've created all over VoA and especially for emailing me the link that lets me login so I can post comments once again. I hope my observations don't add too much to your burden. I look at it as job security for you, stability and predictability for me and if it gets AZ Moderate back in the game, we all win! Thanks again.

| To the management and staff at VofA... You guys do a great job. Only bitch I have eve had is the spell check. Either I spell so poorly that it can't understand what I am trying to do and just ignores me or it has a clitch... Only when I am writing articles do I notice this, so like june, I do in Word then cut and paste it over. One more idea...what about a spell check here int eh comment part...I notice there isn't one. is alone might have saved poor William Crum some s*** from getting sling his way... |

| AA, I have suggested a spell-checker for the comments a number of times to the BBB crew. Seems like it might ruin some of the more entertaining aspects of the site, but that's not why they haven't implemented it yet. One reason might be that misspellings get linked to internet search engines like Google just like the correct spellings, and uniquely too. This helps the overall stats for VofAZ, which in turn helps marketing. The other reason is probably that they just haven't gotten around to it yet.
