3 US troops killed, 31 wounded in Iraq clashes with Shi'ite militia

Suspected Shiite militants lobbed rockets and mortar shells into the U.S.-protected Green Zone and a military base elsewhere in Baghdad on Sunday, killing three American troops and wounding 31, officials said.

The attacks occured as United States forces fought Shi'ite militiamen yesterday in Baghdad's Sadr City, as fierce fighting claimed at least 20 lives.

Another American service member was killed and 14 were wounded in the attack on a base in the southeastern Baghdad area of Rustamiyah, the official said, speaking on condition of anonymity

Unrest has spread following the Iraqi government's offensive in the southern city of Basra. Moqtadr al-Sadr, the Shi'ite cleric, has promised to put one million people on to the streets to protest at the US occupation. General David Petraeus, the commander of US forces in Iraq, and Ryan Crocker, the US ambassador, are due to testify before Congress from tomorrow about the progress of the "surge" of 28,000 extra troops last June.

But a report released in advance by the US Institute of Peace think-tank has concluded that, while the surge led to security improvements, the US was "no closer to being able to leave Iraq than it was a year ago".

If every one was like me, There wouldn't be any religion which means there wouldn't be any wars. In short it means we would all be f***ed because all of the people that died in every war because of religion would not have died.
